Above three thousand

Natural Park Posets-Maladeta was declared in 1994 to protect natural values, flora, fauna and geomorphological formations of this 30,000 hectares area. Despite global warming, within this protected area still survive 13 of the largest glaciers in the Pyrenees, among which the glacier of Aneto (about 75 hectares) and Maladeta.

Scattered through the Valley there are over 95 "ibones" (glacial lakes). Cregüeña is the largest one, but perhaps the most beautiful are Gorgutes -close to the French border- or Batisiellles.

Moreover, the Parque Natural Posets-Maladeta has the highest concentration of peaks above 3,000 meters in the Pyrenees and eight of the ten highest mountains in the range, two of which are the highest: Aneto (3,404 meters) and Posets ( 3375).


These three thousands are grouped in three main massifs: 

• Maladeta Massif summits: Aneto (3.404 m.), Maladeta, Maldito, Margalida, Tempestades, Russel, Alba ...
• Posets Massif summits: Posets (3.375), Espadas, Eriste…
  
• Perdiguero Massif summits: Pediguero (3.222), Royo, Literola, Gourgs Blancs…
  

In the Valley you will find activities for all seasons such as classic mountaineering, skiing, mountain climbing, canyoning, via ferrata or snowshoeing, among many others.
Mountain refuges are another big appeal for visitors: Angel Orús in the valley of Eriste, Estós in the valley of the same name, Renclusa, on the north side of Maladetas, and Biadós, in the adjacent valley of Chistau.
